The editors didn't like
Too big and heavy
Unreliable autofocusing
Barebones smartphone app
The camera is relatively slow and given the price
The photo quality should be better. Also
The grip isn't big enough to maintain a solid hold
Expensive. Soft-focus halo effect when shooting macro images at f/2. Inconsistent autofocus accuracy. Edges never sharpen
Even at narrow apertures. Lacks mic input port. Not pocket friendly. Heavy
Can be slow at times
Grip is too small
Images aren't as sharp as we expected
We wish that the autofocus were a bit faster and more accurate
Wifi implementation is a bit clunky
Considerable shadow noise in Raw
Abrupt highlight clipping
Program line's tendency to use wide apertures can lead to unintentional background blur
Inner lens ring can be frustratingly unresponsive
AF system can struggle in low contrast / low light sit
The lack of a built-in viewfinder is always a deal-breaker for us and reviewing the PowerShot G1X Mark II reinforced our belief that any kind of viewfinder, no matter how basic, is better than none at all. An optional EVF is a poor solution, requiring the...
F/2.0-f/3.9 lens with 5x optical zoom, Simple to understand menu system, Very good image quality
Heavy for a compact, Balance isn't great, Button layout could be better
Canon's PowerShot G1X Mark II is a substantial compact camera that can't easily fit in your pocket. It's a good shooter, though, and it gives you the choice to either take advantage of its extensive scene modes, or to wrestle with the exposure settings yo...

Abstract: DateMay 14, 2014 (29) Read later Canon Powershot G1X MkII. This 13-megapixel camera stretches the definition of "compact". It is big and heavy, but then, it is a camera with heavyweight specifications. The sensor is much larger (1.5-inch, 38mm) ...
The big sensor, small pixel count, modest zoom and optically brilliant lens altogether make for images unlike other compacts can produce. Dynamic range is wide; resolved detail is sparkling and the ISO sensitivity can be set up to 3200 with good results.
Does it really need to be this heavy? The WiFi connectivity with a smartphone is pretty crude compared with the competitors' apps, but you do at least get basic tethering and zoom control
The G1X is a unique camera. It has fewer pixels on a larger sensor than any other compact, a combination that serious photographers have longed for. Canon has taken a bold step away from the pixel race and selling-by-numbers - good! The relatively short z...
Small size, large sensor, Touchscreen, Builtin WiFi
High price, No viewfinder
The premium compact camera market is an interesting place to be right now. This seems to be a genuinely decent piece of kit which I can see a lot of photographers being tempted by, especially those who are loyal to the Canon brand. By keeping the same se...
