Canon PowerShot G3 X
No built-in EVF
Mediocre AF speeds
Sluggish burst rate with RAW/RAW+JPG and with servo AF
Below average battery life
No 4K video unlike competitors
Focus on the sluggish side. Slow burst rate when shooting Raw. Takes a while to turn on. EVF is a pricey accessory
We concluded our reviews of the PowerShot G1X Mark II and G7X by stating The lack of a built-in viewfinder is always a deal-breaker for us and we're still of that opinion. Particularly in the Southern Hemisphere, where skies are often clear, a viewfinder...

Image quality, especially in RAW, is good. Obviously the best pictures are taken when the zoom is set in its middle range, but with care the quality at 600mm is better than acceptable. If anything there is a slight over-sharpening which results in moire interference in fine detail such as bird feathers
The absence of an eye level viewfinder at this price is puzzling. It is not possible to hold a camera at arm’s length and keep it steady with a lens zoomed to 600mm. The theoretically optional EVF is, in fact, essential. The LCD does not perform well in bright sunlight, making it difficult to check framing, focus and exposure
This camera is too big too big to be a compact that fits a pocket or bag. It is too expensive for the casual user. It is under-featured for a serious amateur. It has one selling feature, the incredibly long zoom, but the image quality at 600mm is not good...
24600mm equivalent zoom range, 1inch type sensor, 5axis image stabilization
Quite large for a compact with a 1inch sensor, Tilting rather than variangle screen, No viewfinder built in
A promising camera that has a good sensor, of decent size, with an as yet unknown but promising lens which offers a very versatile zoom range...

A great camera, but a tough sellNitpicking aside, the Canon G3 X is a camera that puts the bargain point and shoot crowd to shame. Like its older brothers the G1 X Mark II and the G7 X, the G3 X is a brawny point and shoot with a 1-inch sensor and advance...
At first glance, the G3 X may look like a quirky superzoom with a 600mm party trick, but dig a little deeper and you'll find a truly versatile camera. To have 600mm from such a diminutive body is amazing and it offers a genuine option for the wildlife fan...
Abstract: The Canon PowerShot G3X measures 12cm wide, 8cm deep and 11cm from the screen to the front of the lens when closed however when fully zoomed this last figure increases to 17cm. So with that amount of optical zoom (25x) you will not be surprised that it we...

The G3 X is a versatile camera with excellent still image quality, decent video quality and a solid, water-resistant build It's certainly not a bad choice for anyone looking for a flexible shooter that can swiftly adapt to almost any situation The G3 X...
Huge lens range covers almost any subject, Good image quality from 1in sensor, Excellent touchscreen interface
No built-in viewfinder, Awkward ergonomics, Poor continuous shooting with raw enabled
The G3 X includes 2015s must-have feature – a selfie screenWhen Canon first told us it was making a camera with a 1in sensor and 600mm equivalent zoom, it looked really exciting. Sadly, though, the G3 X manages to be rather less than the sum of its parts...
