The Nikon z7 is a camera that I feel could have been so much better. Nikon could have found a way to blow Sony out of the water in all areas

Abstract: The Nikon Z7 is the first camera of a whole generation of new mirrorless models from Nikon. It is unique that with the Z7, Nikon has created a completely new system camera that does not feel like a “first generation.” A lot of things about the camera are...
Because the Z 7 is so well resolved as a full-35mm mirrorless camera, the obvious question is just why did it take so long to get to market? Given how soon after that Canon launched its EOS R system (the mere matter of a fortnight, in fact), were the grea...
Abstract: Half a decade ago, a new kid named Sony made up a game called “full-frame mirrorless,” and has spent the last five years dunking on everybody else. At first, the cool kids thought this game was dumb and they were happy to let Sony play by itself. Then, as...

Feels great in the hands, Sturdy, Great picture quality, Touch controls are handy, Battery can be charged over USB Type C
Single memory card slot seems short-sighted, Uses the less popular XQD format, Autofocus doesn't feel strong in low light, Electronic shutter has ISO limitations, 8K mode is marketing spin
Nikon's first proper take on the mirrorless market has pros and cons, but overall, we found ourselves really liking what Nikon has created. It's interesting, because in the years where it has seemed like Nikon hasn't cared about developing mirrorless, we f...
Superb, DSLR-like handling, One of the best electronic viewfinders around, Extremely detailed, sharp images, In-body image stabilisation for handheld shots, Intuitive touchscreen interface
Only one XQD card slot, Screen doesn't fully articulate, Average battery life, Limited range of native lenses at launch
One of the finest cameras Nikon has ever made and a genuine alternative to Sony's A7R III, the Z7 has more than exceeded our expectations of its first full-frame mirrorless camera.Related: Nikon Z6 vs Nikon Z7: what's the difference? Nikon Z7 – The Rival...

Superb electronic viewfinder, Effective sensor-based VR system, Very responsive in use, Noise well suppressed in high-ISO images, Plays well with third-party lenses, Very good dynamic range
Relatively shallow buffer depth, AWB can be neutral in daylight, XQD cards still pricey, Expensive next to Z6, Battery life far from class leading, No DCI 4K – only UHD 4K
Nikon has made it clear how important the introduction of the Z7 is to the company, and it certainly feels like a camera that will be one day looked back as the start of something significant.By cutting its losses with its 1 series and focusing on buildin...
