  • No EVF or EVF add-on capability. Display only tilts up and forward. Lacks microphone input. Some apps must be purchased. Requires in-camera battery charging
  • Important settings buried in menu
  • Doesn't take external flash or microphon
  • Wi-Fi not iOS friendly
  • Battery life tops out around a maximum 4-5 hours
  • Sony could and has made a selfie screen that tilts down and up
  • Users expecting an EVF and hot shoe will have to look elsewhere
  • Touchscreen functionality could use some work
  • No viewfinder
  • Touchscreen performance not as comprehensive as competitors
  • No microphone socket

  • Tiny and lightweight, Great photo and video quality, Lightning-fast autofocus
  • No electronic viewfinder, Screen a tad small for touch
  • We're hugely impressed with the Sony A5100, given its price. For RM2399, you get superb still and video quality in almost all conditions, as well as class-leading autofocus, all crammed into a camera almost preternaturally tiny. And a decent zoom lens too...
