The HX9V might actually be too much camera for some users and there are a couple of minor design issues
16X zoom lens with 24mm wide angle, Superb 1080p, 60fps video quality, Incamera GPS and compass, Great modes for 3D, panorama, and lowlight shots,
Oversaturated colors in Auto mode, Limited GPS features, Popup flash is too powerful,
The 16X-optical-zoom Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V is loaded with fun extras, including 3D shooting, excellent video quality, in-camera GPS, and groundbreaking scene modes. ...
It fits in a shirt pocket and it has a lens that goes from here to there, exactly as you'd want. For the small sensor size, the results are (barely) up to snuff in stills at low ISO, great in video. A serious shooter can do worse with some of the other...
Abstract: The so-called 'Travel Zoom' category was effectively invented by Panasonic, with the Lumix DMC-TZ1. Released in 2006, the TZ1 was the first camera with a 10x optical zoom lens that could truly be called 'compact', and although Panasonic had the field to itself for a while, it wasn't long before other manufacturers started to move into the same space...
Plenty of manual and auto options, Broad lens range, Built in GPS and 3D adds to futureproof feel
Tiny backplate buttons, Large body, Need a 3D TV for 3D images, GPS struggles to find signal indoors
With the Sony Cyber-Shot HX9V boasting an asking price of £269 in the UK and $329.99 in the US, it falls between the likes of a Canon PowerShot S100 and a regular point and shoot compact such as the Nikon Coolpix S6200 in cost. And it feels like fair valu...
Abstract: This 16-megapixel camera has a zoom range of 24-384mm (film equivalent). It has a wide selection of programmable settings, so it is a pity it doesn't come with a printed user manual. Most owners may never take full advantage of its features. The 75...

Like: The lens is remarkably good for such a long range and images at ISO200 are clean, which is surprising for a 16mp sensor. Focus and exposure are accurate. And the 24mm wide angle is excellent for architectural photography. Video quality is outstandin
Dislike: By default colours are oversaturated, but that can be reduced by a menu adjustment. The lack of printed instructions, beyond how to insert the battery and turn the camera on, is inexcusable
Brilliant LCD screen. Excellent build quality. Very good low-light image quality. Manual exposure control. Beautifully coloured images. Very good video quality
Video recording takes a few seconds to initialise. Can blow highlights when using auto modes. In-camera battery charging is a bit of a pain. No RAW capture
With a stack of great features that work as advertised, including a 16x optical zoom lens, the HX9V makes an ideal travel companion for those who enjoy life on the road....
