The editors didn't like

  • Would like to see a full bottom completely covering the PSU
  • No top fan options
  • No sound deadening material
  • No option for an internal optical drive (this isn't necessarily a con)
  • Bracket required to mount SSDs and only one is included
  • No openings in top panel for mounting optional fans or a radiator
  • Bundled fans are very quiet but don't move a lot of air
  • Have to install stand offs for motherboard. (I managed to not strip any this go around!)
  • Final Thoughts
  • The MasterBox 5 is super affordable with tons of room on the inside. Your imagination and tools are really the limitations to this case. If you can
  • Few feature enhancements
  • Few drive bays
  • Lacks an eighth expansion slot
  • Only 1 proprietary brackets for SSD included
  • No sound dampening
  • Plastic window not held securely
  • Thin steel side panels
  • No rubber grommets
  • No top cooling
  • No thumbscrews on the expansion slots

  • While Cooler Master describes the MasterBox 5 as a modular case, it only is in the loosest sense of the word. Don't expect to be able to flip the motherboard round or adjust the PSU mount, for example. However, the ability to place the SSD in a variety of...
