The editors liked

  • It's a 4870with DirectX 11
  • Great power envelope
  • Practically silent
  • Cheap
  • A less expensive
  • But modern card that can still handle gaming
  • Impressive DirectX 10 performance at mainstream resolutions
  • Same triple-monitor Eyefinity support as more expensive cards
  • Smaller form factor
  • Less power-hungry than the 5870
  • Unmatched feature set
  • Extremely low power consumption
  • 1.36 TeraFLOPS for $159 (at launch)
  • HDMI and DisplayPort interfaces
  • Cool
  • Quiet operation
  • Requires only one 6-pin power connector
  • Sleek
  • Modern looks
  • Most heat is exhausted outside the case

The editors didn't like

  • Without driver improvement
  • Will be matched or beaten by HD 4870s
  • With only a single 6 pin power connector
  • You’re limited with overclocking.
  • DirectX 11 performance can’t really be tested until more games are available later this year
  • 800 Stream Processors at 850MHz
  • But performance < HD4890?
  • NonFunctional red hood scoops

  • Abstract:  The Radeon HD 5770 and HD 5750 impress but don't really dominate over NVIDIA's options as I'd hoped they would. AMD continues to avoid the death blow to NVIDIA by not upping performance or cutting prices to that next degree, but it is hard to see any other outcome than total AMD GPU dominance into this holiday season.

  • Ok, I want to first of all make some conclusions without involving prices, as I want to judge the card on it's own merits without current pricing polluting it; we'll get to pricing in a little bit. The HIS HD 5770 1GB is a good card. We've cer...

  • Compared to its most direct competitors, the Radeon HD 5770 has painted a rather strange performance picture - it's anything but a Mona Lisa, but it's not disastrous. As a result, we're frankly not sure where it stands at the moment because a lot of th...

  • Abstract:  The HD 5700 series offers a formidable feature set for the relatively low introductory price they are targeted to sell for (about $160 and $130 USD). While on a strict price-per-performance metric, the 5700 series will not destroy the competition, when you consider that both cards are only using a 128-bit memory interface, they are excellent performers.
