The editors didn't like

  • Does not support hardware based encryption
  • Pricey
  • Useful only with heavier workloads
  • Not quite as fast overall as recent Samsung 850-Series SSDs
  • No sub-240GB capacity
  • The drive doesn't support self-encryption
  • Slower than the rival 960 Pro without caching involved
  • Slightly slower reading files than Samsung's T7
  • It's outdone by the performance of Samsung's 850 Pro and we would've liked to have seen hardware encryption included.

  • Pros, IP55-rated for shock-, dust-, and water-resistance. Rubberized aluminum case is easy to grip. Excellent read/write speeds. Includes USB-A and USB-C cables and five-year warranty

  • Bottom LineFrom its silicone-wrapped aluminum case to its blazing data transfer speeds, SanDisk's Extreme Pro Portable SSD has a lot to offer, but it's neither as rugged nor as well-designed as some competitors...
