The Acer is a well-made machine with good balance, especially considering the £1,300 price. The GTX 1050 Ti is a solid 1080p gaming chip, the Core i7 processor is fast, and the screen is solid. It's all wrapped up inside a good-looking design that doesn't...

The Nvidia 1060 graphics card is overclockable, and cooling is assisted by a patented superthin fan. For a 17-inch VR-ready gaming laptop, the price is very reasonable
You can find the same GPU in 15-inch systems that cost less. The screen is only standard HD resolution and doesn't really pop. The part-plastic body is a yawn
You can find similar components for less, but Acer packs a lot of unique features -- and a big screen -- into the midpriced Predator Helios 300...

Seeing as this is a £1,300 laptop - not exactly a small investment - you'd be right to expect some serious performance for your money. Does the Helios 300 provide?Well, yes and no. As the benchmarks show, its Intel i7 7700HQ CPU can blast through multi-co...
well made and not very aggressive on the gaming accents, good IO, good keyboard and trackpad, excellent performance, runs cool and quiet with daily use, fairly good speakers, but not very loud
heavier and larger than expected, rather dim and color deficient screen, the low travel keyboard won't appeal to everyone, runs very hot under load, only gets a 48 Wh battery
The Helios 300 is Acer's first mind-range Predator built on Intel HQ processors and Nvidia 1050 Ti/1060 graphics. Top notch performance is its selling point, alongside a quiet cooling system, a nice keyboard, solid IO and overall good construction, with s...
Acer's already tried and tested this formula with the its VX line, and with a higher-spec graphics and a better screen, I'm optimistic this is another solid addition to its gaming laptop range...
Striking design, Performs well in games, Upgradable components, Overclockable GPU, Competitive street price
Exhaust fans get noisy, Screen isn't always bright enough, Keyboard layout could be better,
The Acer Predator Helios 300 is exclusive to Flipkart in the online space, and it's now available for Rs. 89,990, compared to the launch price of Rs. 1,29,999. Keep in mind that this isn't an official price reduction from Acer, only Flipkart's pricing. If...
Well Built, Lighter than its competitors, Good display, Keyboard is good for typing, GPU overclocking
Only 1 USB 3.0 port, Quality of plastics could have been better, Expensive
The Acer Predator Helios 300 is a good laptop, but can't match the added features of some other laptops in its category. That being said, it is the only laptop in its range to offer GPU overclocking, if you need that...
The system boot and game load times on the Acer Predator Helios 300 is quite low. As most of it is handled by the large SSD within the machine. This machine is not a power hog either, 180W is what it consumes at max. The design is slim (because of which t...

A decent gaming laptop that does well in gaming without pulling any extraordinary punches and remains relatively cool, even if it is on the louder side of things, which can easily be drowned out by music.(previously published in issue December 2017)...
