With great battery life
Beautiful Retina display
Force Touch trackpad
The new 12inch Apple MacBook is amazingly thin and light
Has a premium look and feel
And is available in three colors. It offers better battery life than other laptops with Intel's Core M processors

OS X (why you buy a Mac in the first place)
Excellent integration with iOS devices
This is about as well as you can design a clamshell PC
I still don't understand how a laptop can be this light. The screen will make every Air owner jealous. If only all laptop chargers were this small

The editors didn't like
Performance is a step or two behind recent Broadwell-U Macs
In 1440×900 mode
The integrated GPU sometimes struggles to keep up with the high-res screen
Upgrades are impossible. Everything from the RAM to the SSD is soldered to the tiny motherboard

Overall performance isn't on par with competitors' laptops
High-performance processors or graphics
A large number and variety of ports
Deep
Clackity keyboards
Low
Low pricing
Must use dongle to plug in most devices
Pricey
Loss of MagSafe could lead to a costly accident
No USB-C adapter
Splitter or hub in the box
Starting at $1

The MacBook is expensive for what it offers
Only one USB-C port
With no adapters included. USB-C is not Thunderbolt-compatible. New keyboard and Force Touch trackpad take some getting used to. Can only be upgraded at initial purchase
Weak keyboard
Single USBC port for charging and peripherals
Slow Core M processor
Single USB-C port for charging and peripherals
Its performance and battery life falls short of the MacBook Air and Pro. The new keyboard is shallow and takes some getting used to
And sharing a single port for all accessories as well as the power cord is almost immediately frustrating
USB Type-C port won't fit existing peripherals
No SD card slot or MagSafe power connector
Shallow keyboard travel takes some getting used to
Core M CPU isn't as powerful as Core i5
Lack of keyboard travel is disconcerting at first. Expensive
Limited performance
Very expensive relative to performance
Only slightly more powerful than iPad Air 2
Specific target audience
So it will not please everyone
No touchscreen. Come on
Apple
Single USB TypeC port limits desktop/office use (adapter not included)
Average processor performance (slower than expected)
Worthless 480p webcam
Expensive to the point of being hard to recommend. A little slow when you push it. The battery is just shy of being as worryfree as it wants to be. USBC isn't yet everywhere

Abstract: Apple has announced a new MacBook Laptop that is even thinner and smaller than the MacBook Air, but more powerful than the iPad. The new 12-inch MacBook ditches all the traditional ports in order to slim down to a super-thin 13.1mm in thickness. To get i...

The hinge tension and balance is perfect. You can lift the lid with a single finger with the MacBook resting on a table, and the base won't move one bit. You can reposition the screen at any angle-though sadly it only goes back to 45 degrees or so-and it'
Why is this laptop so thin? I never felt that I needed a thinner MacBook. One with a better screen? Absolutely. Lighter? Okay. But every other innovation in the new MacBook seems to be in the service of making it thinner. Who needs that?, The keyboard dri
No. Wait. Heres what I predict will happen: like the original MacBook Air in 2008, this new MacBook will be the prelude to a more mainstream, affordable, sensible workhorse thats just as gorgeous. As always, early adopters will pay the price for Apples...

The MacBook is a gorgeous piece of hardware. The Retina display is excellent, and I'm really loving the Force Touch trackpad. The keyboard is more of a hit-or-miss affair; if you're someone who is particular about your keyboards and spends a whole lot of ...
Abstract: It's going to take something special for Apple to lose the qualifiers and name a new laptop simply ‘MacBook'. There's no ‘Pro', no mention of a Retina Display, or an ‘Air' to insinuate this thing's small. It is simply ‘MacBook', and as such it's a stateme...
Lack of ports can be very frustrating, Super-shallow keyboard, By no means a powerhouse
With extra bits here and little nips and tucks there, Apple has created a vision of what a laptop of the future should be. Elements are a little jarring, at least at first, but there's plenty that's very compelling. So overall is the new MacBook a hit, a m...

Gorgeous design, comes in gold, Very thin, very light, Long battery life, Force Touch trackpad is cool, Awesome Retina display, Excellent build quality
Less powerful than other Mac notebooks, Battery life shorter than MacBook Air, Force Touch trackpad requires more support, Only a single USB TypeC port, No dedicated jack/port for power, Keyboard needs getting used to
IntroductionReviving the MacBookFor most of our readers, when you think of a MacBook, you are probably thinking of the white polycarbonate model that was discontinued about four years ago. The MacBook was Apple's entry-level notebook since its introductio...
