The editors liked

  • Many features. Great for both a novice or pro. Fills the need of 3 types of software
  • Photo Organizer
  • Photo Editor and Photo Sharing
  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 is loaded with extras that will make any picture a masterpiece
  • Lots of powerful image-manipulation tools. Sleek user interface. Strong face- and geo-tagging. Excellent output options--printing
  • Online
  • Photo books.
  • Easy Facebook uploads
  • Improved panorama feature and spot-healing brush
  • Content Aware Fill makes complex edits easy
  • Accessible but powerful interface
  • Fun and easy-to-use photo effects
  • Facebook support
  • Powerful
  • Impressively intelligent tools within a deceptively simple to use interface

The editors didn't like

  • Needs a fast computer and slightly older systems may struggle running it. Some features may get in the way of the advanced user.
  • A lack of email support was the only con we could identify.
  • Separate organizer app is less integrated than that of other photo apps.
  • Two applications complicates workflow
  • Very slow auto-analyzer feature
  • Organizer module doesn't track changes made outside the app
  • No upgrade pricing
  • Actions require creation elsewhere
  • Masks aren’t as fully featured as they could be.

  • All in one organiser and editor; powerful editing tools; plenty of features from the full version of Photoshop,
  • Up against Google’s Picasa, which is free; automatic image editing tools rarely produce the best result

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 is not a really huge leap forward over version 8, and existing users may not find the essential feature here which makes the upgrade worthwhile, unless they're using a Mac, in which case the Organizer's facilities could be just ...

  • Adobe’s latest Photomerge and content-aware image-enhancement technologies are jaw dropping when they work, but they don’t all the time. The Guided Edit mode and support for Layer Masks are more concrete improvements, and Mac users benefit most of all...

  • The Haze Removal tool is the only thing in this update that I can muster much enthusiasm for, and I wouldn't be remotely tempted to fork out the £65 upgrade price for it. To give it a more positive spin, if you own a recent version of Photoshop Elements...
