The editors didn't like

  • Only Verizon iPad offers wireless hotspot feature for now
  • AT&T may be coming soon
  • Nearly all updates to tech specs are used to beef up the "retina" display
  • Very few performance improvements over the iPad 2 otherwise
  • Still no Siri
  • Despite dictation su
  • The iPad remains a closed device on many levels and that's something you must live with once you enter Apple's world
  • IOS lacking some features
  • If you don't care for Retina or LTE
  • It's not a compelling upgrade over the iPad 2
  • Thicker and heavier
  • Runs a little warmer than the iPad 2
  • STILL no Flash video support
  • Slightly more sluggish power-up/-down than before
  • More things = bigger battery
  • Runs a bit warmer
  • Extra thickness makes some iPad 2 accessories incompatible
  • Comparatively little on-board storage
  • Especially for a HD-media-oriented device
  • Front facing camera still only VGA quality Look and Feel...
  • No real gain to main CPU performance
  • Signficantly longer charging time

  • Slightly thicker and heavier (nitpicking here)
  • Thanks to that bigger battery
  • The iPad New lasts just as long as the iPad 2—an exactly-as-advertised 10 hours of real-world use and days upon days of standby time. But the differences end when charging time comes around. In our tests
  • It took up to twice
  • No camera settings. 4G data usage is difficult to monitor. Apps are starting to strain the processor
  • Largest tablet battery but also the biggest power drain and slowest recharge time

  • No expandable memory
  • Processor heats up
  • Thicker and heavier than the iPad 2
  • Runs a tad warm

  • And ports for HDMI
  • USB
  • And SD require adapters
  • Not enough noteworthy enhancements with iOS 5.1
  • 4G not available in UK yet
  • Lack of killer new feature means this isn't a must-have upgrade for Ipad 2 owners
  • But viewed as a standalone tablet it's the best around
  • Aside from the Retina display
  • The latest iPad lacks mindblowing new features that advance the state of the tablet art
  • No 128GB option
  • Slightly larger and heavier

  • The battery life is incredible,
  • While the decent fivemegapixel camera provides some nice features like video stabilisation, the pictures taken don't really do the awesome screen a lot of justice.
  • While some iPad 2 users might not find the need to give up their tablet, the visual overhaul here does lend plenty of weight for an upgrade....

The N...
