Are all things we can live with
Without regretting the purchase
That's why this is a very solid slate. The iPad Mini Retina gets from us a 9.6 out of 10 for design
A 9.7 for hardware and a 9.5 out of 10 for OS and UI. The final grade is a 9.6 out of 10
IOS 7 is still a little rough around the edges on this and every iPad
Air gap between glass and LCD keeps screen from being as good as it could be
Features like Touch ID will have to wait until next year at the earliest
Scattered reports indicate that
Some other great performing tablets cost less
Harder to use one handed than smaller
7inch tablets
Android and Amazon tablets -- and even Windows laptops -- are available for less. Base model includes only 16GB of non-expandable storage. It's missing the Touch ID fingerprint sensor and split-screen feature found on newer iPads
Lacks Touch ID
Colors not as saturated as on iPad Air
Pricier than most small tablets
Needs more system RAM
So-so camera performance
Very pricey for the segment
No Touch ID fingerprint sensor
Not the latest Apple tech. Not as easy to hold with a single hand as narrower small-screen tablets
Camera not as good as on iPhones
No Touch ID fingerprint detector
Like on previous-gen iPads
Is glare-prone
Thin-sounding audio
Less-than-ideal speaker positioning
Expensive even for basic version
Can't expand on storage
Not the latest Apple tech. Not as easy to hold with a single hand as narrower smallscreen tablets
Expensive
Priceysimilar sized and specced tablets go for closer to $200. Stereo speakers both located on one end of the device. Would be nice if it had better networking capabilities
New 326 PPI Retina display matches past iPads in resolution but falls noticeably short in color performance
Some screens also have image retention issues. Larger battery adds slightly to thickness and weight of original iPad mini. A7 processor speed matc
Speaker placement isn't the best
iOS 7 is in need of further tablet optimization
Moderately expensive
Just big enough to not fit in some jacket pockets
IOS 7 has problems
Expensive for a small tablet
I miss the black color
Display is slightly less bright than the iPad Air. Colors look washed out when compared to iPad Air and iPhone 5s/5c
Especially for storage upgrades and the cellular model. Display color gamut is lacking.

Excellent battery life, Retina screen a big upgrade, Fast, snappy performance
More expensive than predecessor, Screen can't match iPad Air

Expensive, No expandable memory, Want a bigger screen for films, Can be a bit buggy
What we think The iPad mini 2 WiFi model is a great little tablet, but unfortunately it does come at quite a high price for its size. We love the Retina display, which provides brilliantly clear detail, as well as the impressive power and light weight...
