Melee Weapons Longer Levels Chainsaws Lots of deformable zombies + scavenge mode + melee weapons = more badass zombie killing. New campaigns are very well designed Explosive new guns and deadly new melee weapons Scavenge mode is a great shortform Versus mode New survivors have more character And new infected have fun abilities Realism mode delivers a new level of tension. Improves on L4D in almost every aspect Three new Special Infected and Uncommon Infected are a welcome addition Two new modes Realism for the hardcore and scavenge for the multiplayerorientated Extremely good replayability Dedicated support from Valve (through patches and ongoing fixes) Close attention to detail The editors didn't like Much more difficult Seemingly constant flow of enemies Less pacing control means less tension AI teammates can be frustrating A lot less narrative than I expected. PC version had/has a glitch that eats your Steam Achievements Slightly higher difficulty causes some frustration in the beginning Zombie Clowns Needs more weapons. Gameplay essentials essentially unchanged. Source engine looks dated. No major leaps forward in gameplay AI allies can still trip you up. Bots have not really improved They still cannot pick up explosives and have slow reaction times Some levels can be lengthy and frustrating if your team wipes (forcing you to start from the beginning) For those with the censored version A certain atmosphere is lost
