The editors liked

  • Mostly solid inring gameplay
  • Great character models and animation
  • Capable grappling and location damage systems
  • Smooth animation and attractive visuals.
  • Attacks land with invigorating force
  • Simple control scheme
  • Varied move set
  • Animations often look great.
  • Mostly good voicework. The online play is mostly lagfree and functional. For what its worth
  • The Ultimate X match is more interesting than most gimmick matches found in wrestling games

The editors didn't like

  • Disappointing lack of content
  • Some graphical issues
  • Linear story mode
  • Minimal features
  • Kicking out of pins is too hard
  • Story mode matches are boring
  • No Curry Man.
  • Technical flaws can spoil matches
  • Graphical glitches are common
  • Story mode doesnt capture personalities of TNA stars.
  • Bad commentary. Half the roster is locked
  • And some of the locked character choices are rather illogical
  • Why is Brother D’Von available at the start but Brother Ray is locked? Not an ingame fault
  • But the actual TNA Impact TV commercial has become a 2 hour infomercial for the game.

  • Like with any sports game, many of these issues need more time to deal with but are bogged down by the demand to release yearly iterations of the franchise. I would’ve gladly accepted the smaller roster of fighters and the lack of extra (and usually n...

  • Capable grappling and location damage systems; smooth animation and attractive visuals.
  • Minimal features; kicking out of pins is too hard; story mode matches are boring; no Curry Man.
  • TNA iMPACT! is fighting an uphill battle against Smackdown vs. Raw, in more ways than one. The TNA promotion isnt as popular as Vince McMahons WWE, and Midways TNA iMPACT! is a debut effort that will be compared directly against a franchise that has...

  • Abstract:  Professional wrestling has long been maligned and celebrated as a place where spandex-clad ogre-men go to act out contrived rivalries and pretend to actually wrestle. While these simplifications certainly hit on some truths about "sports entertainment,...

  • Abstract:  I always felt that when ECW, WCW, and then-WWF merged in 2001, it was somewhat cool that you finally got to see stars from each league interact. However, it didn’t take long for me to realize that with all three promotions under the control of Vince Mc...
