The editors liked

  • Phenomenal music
  • Magnificently rendered cutscenes
  • Tons of hours of gameplay.
  • Straightforward JRPGstyle gameplay
  • Mindless fun
  • Decent graphics

The editors didn't like

  • Weird (though rare) framerate issues
  • Cutscenes are kind of long.
  • Characters and story are bland and boring
  • Boss battle music is horrible
  • Story
  • The story in Blue Dragon follows anime and RPG clichés to a T. I don’t want to spoil too many specifics in the story
  • But the basics are that bad things are happening to towns all across the land
  • And it is up to you to find who is responsible for the trouble and stop them. And it really is as simple as that. B

  • Awesome class development system, unique monsters and locales, long and wonderfully satisfying.
  • Spastic encounter difficulty, goofy hard rock cheese in boss battles, anime-style histrionics might irritate some folks. The Final Word Blue Dragon is a great addition to any RPG fans games selection. Its a tentative call, but even Final Fantasy regu...
