The editors liked

  • Excellent bass reproduction for any music genre. Designed to fit in any room with its corner design. Fills a room with music. Really shines when you play with your iPhone/iPod set to optimum equalizer settings. The active wireless module probably means future peripherals are coming
  • Neat design
  • Rich sound quality
  • Not too bass heavy
  • Pairs easily via Bluetooth
  • Bluetooth streaming quality is excellent
  • Smaller footprint
  • Carry handles and lightweight design makes it easy to carry
  • Really shines on higher bit rates
  • Powerful audio output with deep bass response. Streams via Bluetooth
  • But also has dock for iPhones and Pods. Portable
  • With built in handles for easy carrying.
  • The most powerful iPod dock we've tested. Does not distort
  • Even at high volume levels. Intense bass response. Wedge-shaped design fits in room corners. A port exists for wireless streaming—but it's not yet activated.
  • Awesomely loud
  • Builtin handle for carrying
  • Includes remote and builtin iPod Dock
  • GSM shielding prevents cell phone interference
  • Compact iPod/iPhone stereo system that delivers big sound
  • Able to fill large rooms
  • Edgy industrial design with minimalist styling
  • Solid construction
  • Big bass
  • Convenient carrying handle

The editors didn't like

  • Pricey. Front grille easily bends when you push it. No mini to mini stereo cable included. No app. Remote control is less than impressive. Improper placement of the device in a room can hinder the sound experience coming from the Beatbox.
  • Remote is a bit cheap looking
  • No batteries included
  • Placement is key to fill the room with sound
  • Collects dirt and fingerprints easily
  • Price is a bit high – but you know you want it anyway
  • Prev2 of 2Next
  • Runs on six D cell batteries. Audible hiss when at maximum
  • Regardless of Bluetooth device volume. Just the slightest hint of distortion at maximum volume on deep bass tracks
  • Remote lacks full iPod navigation. Very expensive. No playback controls on dock itself. No video out for iPod. Speaker grille should be more stable.
  • Expensive
  • $300
  • A bit bright tonally at high volumes
  • Heavy and big
  • No battery or Bluetooth option
  • No extra features
  • Bass will rattle nearby objects
  • Fairly pricey
  • Wireless module is an optional accessory (with no specific price or due date)
  • No battery option

  • Beatbox by Dr. Dre is Monster's first foray into the realm of iPod speaker docks, and while there are some glaring omissions for such an expensive dock, the fabulous audio quality makes up for it. Buy it now...

  • Well made. Plenty loud. Music has plenty of presence. Great for dance and hip-hop fans
  • but bad for everyone else. Grille feels flimsy. Mid-range is recessed. Volume control is funky. No battery option

  • Abstract:  Although it looks portable with its integrated carry handle, it does need to be plugged into the mains to work. That's slight disappointment, as its aggressive, powerful sound is ideal for big outdoor gatherings. Still, you can always trail an extension c...

  • Extremely strong, aggressive bass, Decent allround sound quality
  • Low on features
  • The Monster Beats by Dr Dre Beatbox speaker dock for the iPhone and iPod sings from the same hymn sheet as its bass-heavy headphone cousins. But it's no choirboy -- expect skull-rattling bass, and a bold, brash sound. The Beatbox is sure to get the par...

  • Expansive soundstage, big, ballsy midrange, hefty bass
  • Bass doesn't integrate particularly well, ridiculously brash and aggressive treble

  • La fidelidad y profundidad de los tonos graves. Su diseño moderno y atractivo. La garantía de Beats by Dr. Dre

  • basses puissantes et agressives, son global satisfaisant.
