  • Sweet alarm and timer features
  • Works if IFTTT and many third-party Hue apps
  • Pretty bright for a little lamp
  • Portable. Doesn't require a hub. Wide range of colors. Easy to use.
  • All the colors of the rainbow
  • Plus tunable white
  • Controllable via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi (Philips Hue Bridge required for the latter)
  • Can be powered by its onboard rechargeable battery or with an included AC adapter
  • HomeKit compatible

The editors didn't like

  • Requires Hue Bridge to work with app
  • Alarms and timers feature don't work with official app
  • Non-replaceable battery and bulb
  • Didn't work with Amazon Echo's voice controls
  • Pricey. Low brightness. Needs hub for full potential
  • Produces just 520 lumens of brightness
  • It's not easy to switch back to Bluetooth control once it's been configured for Wi-Fi
  • No protection from water (it's rated IP20)
