The editors didn't like

  • 4K video is shaky due to lack of digital image stabilization
  • Flight doesn't have the “fun factor” that I'm used to with some of the standard-sized drones
  • Video feed lags behind reality
  • Kludgy phone controls
  • So-so video quality
  • 4K footage not stabilized
  • Remote control not included
  • Short operating range
  • Very limited battery life
  • Lack of active image stabilization makes for shaky 4K video
  • Limited range of pre-programmed moves
  • Rotor replacement is difficult
  • Flight time is limited to about 10 minutes. Lack of stabilization for 4K video makes it next to useless for demanding shots. Followme mode produced jerky flight (and therefore video) at lower altitudes
  • You'll need the digital image stabilization only available at 1080p and 720p resolutions. Image quality is OK
  • Best suited for online sharing or viewing on a phone. Battery life is relatively short at 12 minutes
  • Poor video quality
  • Short battery life
  • Short range
  • Extremely limited height and distance range
  • No gimbal for video stabilization
  • Electronic stabilization only works to 1080p resolution

  • Easy to fly, Good-quality video and stills, Portable
  • Lack of active image stabilization makes for shaky 4K video, Limited range of pre-programmed moves, Rotor replacement is difficult
  • The $499 Yuneec Breeze feels like it is trapped between a rock and a hard place. Below it on the price scale are drones such as the $139 Aerix Black Talon that are cheaper, so you will care less if you crash them. Above it are drones like the forthcoming...

  • Compact, portable design, Numerous autonomous flight modes, Surprisingly durable, Decent 4K camera, Reasonably priced
  • Mushy, imprecise controls, Limited speed and range, No gimbal
  • Yes. Just make sure the Breeze's features and abilities are in line with your goals. This drone probably isn't a good choice for serious pilots and filmmakers — but if you're simply looking for an easy/affordable way to snap aerial photos of yourself and...

  • Easy to fly and use
  • Battery life feels a little too short
  • The Breeze is flying into uncharted territory for Yuneec. It's not got the flight time, controller or range to scare DJI, but that price is difficult to complain about. If it can rival the Bebop 2 for range, there's not much else out there for the price...

  • Easy to fly and use
  • Battery life feels a little too short
  • Yuneec is clearly pitching the Breeze as an alternative to Parrot's similarly portable Bebop 2. At the time of writing both quadcopters cost RM2999. The 1080p Bebop 2 has a longer 25 minute flight time per charge (and a proper physical controller if you s...
