TestSeek's Expert Reviews Summary

The Kodak EasyShare EX1011 lives up to its name, giving the user a simple and very easy to use product. The functions and dials are easily identifiable and can be learned even without going through a manual.

Looking at the EX1011 for the first time, it resembles a remarkable photo-frame. It has the ability to connect to wireless networks, meaning it does not require to be plugged into a computer or any other device.

This digital frame has an internal memory capacity of 128mb which stored both images and audio, via a built-in speaker system.

The EasyShare EX1011 has various settings options, which enable the user to set the video, brightness, colours etc to their preference. The 10inch screen measuring 800 x 480mm displays imagery in lively colouring, plus allows editing of images and adding of audio to them as well.

The editors were disappointed by the poor movie imagery quality, and the bad resolution of large images.

The editors liked

  • Extremely easy to handle
  • Consists of a built-in Wi-Fi facility
  • A range of features that are not available in others
  • Internal memory of 128MB
  • Built-in speaker system.

The editors didn't like

  • Displays photos only from the computer and not from other online galleries
  • Poor image quality with large sized images
  • Video resolution is slightly blurry
  • Wireless network takes time to connect.

TestSeek's Conclusion

The Kodak EasyShare EX1011 is very cleverly designed and has many unique features as well, like the wireless system, internal memory and audio speakers. However, the reviewers point out that the most important aspect – image quality – is the frame’s major drawback. Overall, if one is using a Kodak gallery, then this is ideal, if not it wont be a very good choice.

  • Abstract:  The Kodak EX1011 is the more traditional looking of the two frames, appearing to have the classic black beveled wooden frame (but its actually plastic). The eStarling is a bit more modern looking with a thick front sheet of plastic/acrylic with the image surrounded by a black matte and outer edge clear...

  • Incredibly easy to use; has a wide array of features not all frames offer, such as built-in Wi-Fi
  • Can only display photos stored on your computer or kodakgallery.com, and not on Picasa or Flickr
  • If you are a Kodak Gallery user, this is a good bet

  • Good design, Clever email abilities
  • Poor screen quality
  • Although it has a lot of good features, the EX1011 is let down by its poor screen quality

  • The EX1011 wins points for its classy design, brilliant picture quality, and support for MP3 and video files. But we wish we could e-mail photos from the frame, and that anyone could send photos directly to it.

  • Built-in wireless connectivity enables you to tap into your home wireless network and stream images from your Windows PC or the Kodak EasyShare Gallery online photo-sharing service. The frame has a bright, relatively sharp 10-inch diagonal display, 128MB
  • Fairly pricey, the built-in speakers sound very tinny, and when transferring photos to the display's internal memory, images aren't automatically resized to the size of the display to reduce file sizes. Music playback controls could be more straightforwar
  • Kodak's Wi-Fi-enabled EX-1011 offers the same strong feature set, good image quality, and online integration with the company's free EasyShare Gallery online photo-sharing service as its highly rated 8-inch brother, the EX-811--but the EX-1011's bigger s...
