The editors didn't like

  • Price (for some)
  • Installation
  • Big and heavy
  • Dry thermal paste
  • Not as good with low airflow
  • Heavy/Tall
  • Price
  • Inflexible AMD mounting
  • Mounting solution (needs a backplate)

  • At just shy of two pounds
  • Using screws instead of baseplate is a little scary

  • Two things Zalman is best known for, and what their products seldom fail to excel at, are quality and noise prevention. The CNPS10X Quiet and Extreme CPU coolers are no exception to this. Just handling these units you can tell they are well made. The...

  • Abstract:  We have nothing but good things to say about this Zalman’s build quality, looks, and function. That said, an easier installation and a lower price would have helped it nab a higher score.

  • Excellent performance, PWM Mate fan controller, Black nickel finish
  • Installation
  • Zalman has stepped away from the cooler design it is well known for and has done a pretty good job. With this step away from the flower design, they also open up a little bit and give you the ability to swap fans. Cooling performance of the CNPS10X Ext...

  • The CNPS10X Extreme marks a departure for Zalman from what we would argue has become a tired design. Weve seen the circular, copper blueprint recycled through several iterations and the new design is a nice change of pace. The first thing youll notic...

  • Zalman has been a very well known brand for high-performance coolers for a long time. But most of their famous coolers use a round design with the heatsink fins squeezed in the center. CNPS 10X Extreme, however, uses a different design: it has a tower ...

  • We didnt find any of the initial LGA1156 HSFs particularly great for cooling our heavily overclocked and overvolted Lynnfield CPU, though we didnt see any fail to keep the CPU within its thermal tolerance either. However, possibly the most annoying a...

  • Zalman is back in the saddle with the CNPS 10X Extreme performance-wise, now to work on quieting down that fan at full speed. ...

  • Once again Zalman Tech has come to the plate and knocked it out of the park. In a matter of a month or two when word reaches the forums telling of how well this heatsink performs you will more than likely have a very hard time finding one for yours...

  • Noctua NH-U12P SE1366The second most expensive cooler today is the Noctua. It performed admirably and did come with two fans though those were easily beat by one stronger fan. If silence is the name of the game and the only thing you’re looking for...

  • When I measured the overclock idle temp on the CNPS 10X Extreme, I was afraid that the coolers overclock performance would be mediocre at best, giving the highest OC idle temp by 5C. I decided to bump up the fan controller to Mid mode. The temp immed...
