256GB and 512GB offer different speeds
Slow Writes
Random write performance slower than expected

The 950 Pro needs a 1TB model to satisfy power users and a 2TB model for gamers with large Steam / Origin libraries. Magician Software with Windows 10 support is lacking at this time but Samsung is working on it.
Increasing performance through RAID 0 no longer has the same shine it once had. NVMe SSDs are fast enough to satisfy the most demanding user needs. We've hit a point where RAID 0 run off of a chipset gives diminishing returns.
Capacity tops out at 512GB (for now)
Intel SSD 750 Series still faster on some tests
Shorter warranty than on Samsung's SSD 850 Pro
Requires Samsung driver for full write performance
No Power Loss Protection
Wasn't Fastest Across The Board
Mediocre performance in standard desktop activities
Double the cost per GB of fast SATA drives
Nothing worth mentioning.
NVMe is not widely available… yet.
Still very expensive
Requires M.2 slot (and NVMe BIOS for booting)
Needs Z170 to shine
Dubble Bubble
Requires M.2 slot (and NVMe BIOS for booting
Expect to pay a premium for the extreme performance. Compatibility could be an issue as it requires an M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 interface.

Will it replace the Samsung SSD 850 series? I think not. The SATA 3, especially the 850 EVO version is still “the best bang for the buck”.Should you get it? It comes down to your computing usage and your workstation setup. For a basic home computing usage...
Without any doubt, the Samsung 950 Pro M.2 512GB NVME SSD is the fastest consumer SSD we have tested so far, delivering extremely high sequential transfer rates and IOPS. We measured sequential read results that were four times those of the 850 Pro, and r...

The Samsung 950 Pro, much like the Intel 750 Series drives before it, makes a splash with its combination of PCIe Gen3 x4 performance and the NVMe protocol. In our review of the Intel 750 Series earlier this year, we called it the future of solid-state s...
Abstract: This is it. This is the day we have been waiting for. Ever since we feasted our eyes on the NVMe version of the Samsung SM951, we've been begging Samsung to release this as a consumer product. Bonus points if it was powered by their 3D VNAND technology. I...

The Samsung 950 Pro sets a new bar for high performance storage and brings it to market at a low price point. Samsung didn't need to lean on power hungry enterprise controllers or ridiculous adapters + cables either to enable NVMe technology in desktops...
