The editors liked

  • Supports 300 Mbps maximum link rate
  • Good setup wizard
  • Can be used as repeater or bridge
  • Doesn't require WDS
  • There are four Ethernet ports for connecting wired devices to the unit
  • Easy setup. Extends range as advertised. Additional Ethernet ports for connecting devices.
  • Very small form factor that takes up next to no wall space
  • Extremely easy to set up and get running
  • Works exactly as advertised – something rare in these days'

The editors didn't like

  • 2.4 GHz only
  • Can't be used as access point
  • Might not help much
  • Netgear's voice support only lasts 90 days from the date of purchase
  • Quirky behavior in interface. Factory reset took time to take effect. Could not get back into interface after configuration.
  • Like a normal router
  • The number of walls and floors it has to go through severely drops it's performance
  • Would be nice if it had a passthrough electrical outlet for houses with a limited number of plugs
  • Price might make some people consider just buying
