The one thing that seems to have suffered for this size reduction is the audio. The speakers weren't great on the 10.1
But they sound even tinnier on the 8.9
Which is too bad. It employs the same rear camera as the 10.1 which isn't great. That said

The lack of ports on the tablet will be a problem for some and the plastic back leaves the Tab 8.9 feeling less solid than the iPad 2
Abstract: It lacks the trend factor of an iPad, but it weighs a half-pound less, has similar specs, and can cost a whole lot less. The cheapest 4G iPad is $629.99, whereas you can get a Galaxy Tab 8.9 from AT&T for $479.99 with a two-year data commitment (plans sta...

Abstract: I am not going to spend too much time on this review, as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 has been out since this past October. I am waiting for a chance with the Galaxy Note, and decided I would wet my toes with a solid couple weeks in the Android world.Let me...

Abstract: It's no secret that tablet makers are having a hard time competing with Apple in this still nascent market. In fact, the iPad is selling so well that it surpassed the number of PCs shipped by any individual PC manufacturer over the last quarter of 2011 --...
Abstract: I've had the Galaxy Tab 8.9 by Samsung for about a full week now which means I've had some time to gather my thoughts and decide how I truly feel about the device. With all honesty this tablet is amazing it does very well with anything you throw at it from...
Abstract: Today I unbox and take my first look in the Galaxy Tab 8.9 by Samsung. This tablet packs a nice punch with it's specs sporting a 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 NVIDIA processor, 1GB of RAM, and a beautiful 8.9 inch display, which measures at 1280×800 pixels to pr...
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is a great addition to the Galaxy Tab lineup. The hardware packs an elegant and sleek design combined with great performance, in a thinner and lighter chassis than the Apple tablet. the smaller size (8.9 inch) can be great for r...

Most movies played bright and clear, with good contrast and deep, rich tones.Audio playback was predictably bland for music and movies – the speakers are too small and situated below the screen where music fills an empty void instead of emanating towa...

Looking at AT&T’s selection of 4G LTE tablets, it’s obviously limited right now with only the Samsung GALAXY Tab 8.9 LTE and the HTC Jetstream. As much as we feel that its $479.99 on-contract ($629.99 outright) is still on the pricey side, since you’l...
Samsung appears to be trying for every single size device here in the smart mobile world, with 10.1-inches, 8.9, 7.7, 7, 5.3, 5, 4.65, 4.52, 4.5, 4.3, and the list goes on and on. No matter what you want, Samsung has you covered in AT LEAST the displa...

I believe that there is such a thing as tablet fatigue and that it set in once the run up to the Motorola Xoom left everyone panting at CES last year. We don't review a lot of Android tablets simply because we find many of them derivative at best. However...
