The editors didn't like

  • Sluggish performance
  • Kinda expensive
  • No expandable storage
  • $50 less than the 10.1
  • LTE version is bundled with contract
  • The one thing that seems to have suffered for this size reduction is the audio. The speakers weren't great on the 10.1
  • But they sound even tinnier on the 8.9
  • Which is too bad. It employs the same rear camera as the 10.1 which isn't great. That said

  • Expensive
  • Lackluster cameras
  • Design
  • The Tab 8.9 is nearly identical to the larger version
  • Coming in at the same width (0.34 inches) but with a smaller 9.1 x 6.2-inch footprint. It still only has one connection port
  • The proprietary one on the bottom
  • Keyboard can feet cramped
  • Though it's fast and responsive
  • Camera is a step down in many ways from the Tab 10.1
  • App selection still lags the iPad
  • Not running Android 3.2
  • A bit too pricey
  • Tablet app selection in the Android marketplace is still limited
  • No social ports like USB or an SD card reader
  • No 3G/ 4G option.
  • Minimally cheaper than 10.11GHz chip soon to be outclassed
  • A bit pricey
  • No SD card slot
  • Android tablets are still short on tablet-specific apps
  • No HDMI out
  • No schedule for Android 3
  • 2 upgrade
  • Like the Tab 10.1
  • Fewer ports and slots than most Android tablets

  • UI inconsistencies
  • Lack of apps
  • Subpar speakers
  • No useful inputs/ports
  • Less expensive than an iPad
  • But still too pricey
  • Still expensive
  • The lack of ports on the tablet will be a problem for some and the plastic back leaves the Tab 8.9 feeling less solid than the iPad 2
  • No HDMI port or card reader
  • Clumsy reliance on storage adapters

  • This is a hot little tablet which once it has Android 4.0 and Chrome will sizzle because the 4G LTE capability is impressive if you can get access to a 4G network.
  • The price!

  • The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is everything we loved about the Tab 10.1 in a slightly smaller form, with a slightly smaller price....

  • If you enjoy reading eBooks, know that this tablet can become an eReader. Thanks to its Reader's Hub app. The Samsung Galaxy GT-P7310MVGR is one of the best tablets produced by this manufacturer. It definitely convinced us to keep an eye on it....

  • Good Looking Device, Slim and Light Aesthetics, The 8.9inch screen size works, Fast thanks to Tegra 2 processor
  • Can be a little glitchy, Just not as innovative as an iPad 2
  • The Samsung Tab 8.9 creates a new 8.9inch size for tablets, which we found to work quite well. The lightness and slimness of the tablet was a positive and had no affect on chassis strength. It's also a fast and responsive tablet, with a few little glitche...

  • Gorgeous clear screen, Light, portable design, Touchwiz 4.0
  • Price, No HDMI, USB ports, Poor sound performance
  • So where does the Samsung 8.9 rank in the current hierarchy of tablets? Well, we’d say quite highly. It shares so many of the characteristics that made the Galaxy Tab 10.1 such an impressive device, but manages to condense it all into a smaller, more

  • Ideal 8.9inch dimensions, Lovely 1,280x800pixel screen, Fast and smooth, Useful TouchWiz skin
  • High price, Still a few bugs, Lacks the integration of Apple or Amazon tablets
  • Large enough to enjoy a film on but smaller than a hardback book, 8.9 inches could be the perfect size for a tablet. Add good build quality and great performance and the only thing holding back the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is its shocking price-tag....

  • Practical format both for mobile and sedentary use, Good overall screen quality / almost perfect media player, General responsiveness of the tablet is good, with just a few slowdowns, Compact and light / Decent battery life for mixed usage, even with 3G, Good 3G network connection
  • Single proprietary connector, No memory extension, Mediocre photo/video sensor
  • Like the Galaxy Tab 10.1-inch, the 8.9 has numerous advantages: an impressive media player, nice and compact, very light, plenty of exclusives in the interface. The fact that you can't extend the memory and that it uses a proprietary port mean it doesn...

  • Samsung's latest tablet takes the company into yet another screen size territory – that of 8.9in. And it's this size of screen that could be the dark horse in the tablet arena as it gives you greater space than 7in tablets yet is more portable than tho...
