Abstract: Getting its start in stereoscopic 3D on the Virtual Boy back in 1995, the Mario Tennis series has returned to its original roots with Mario Tennis Open on the Nintendo 3DS. It's been seven years since we've seen a brand-new Mario Tennis title, with t...
Abstract: Once upon a time, I was bizarrely excited for Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour for the Nintendo Gamecube. I have no idea what exactly sparked my intense desire for the game, but for some reason the idea of Mario-themed golf seemed awesome to me, especially foll...
Abstract: Mario loves sports. Mario loves Olympic sports, basketball, baseball, kart racing, soccer, and so many more. And tennis - we can't forget tennis. Mario has been into tennis for nearly as long as he's been stomping Goombas. He was a ref back on the sim...

Abstract: The Mario Tennis games from Nintendo and Camelot have a pretty devoted fan following based almost entirely on previous portable entries in the series, most notably the Gameboy Color and GBA titles that incorporated a single-player RPG mode that a lot o...
Abstract: Mario Tennis Open is a puzzler. On one hand, it’s a great tennis game that, much like its predecessors, is simple to grasp but also has depth. On the other, there just isn’t much to it. With a lack of strong single-player content, Open’s focus is shift...
A pleasant diversion. Appealing graphics filled with bright colours. Classic, lively characters. Strikes a good balance between being accessible for younger gamers and providing a challenge for more skilled players.
A dearth of game modes and mini-games. Character differentiation through play styles seems superfluous. 3D is a bad idea. Hardly justifies the investment in a crowded game market.
