The editors liked
As adorably addictive as ever
Novel use of 3D visuals
Nice variety of pups and kittens
StreetPass
Augmented reality
And pedometer features offers fun flourishes.
Nice selection of dogs
Looks very realistic
Animals respond to voice and seeing your face
Lots of tricks
Fairly easy to make money
Lots of customization options
StreetPass options
Lots of ways to interact with the animals and the microphone sensitivity seems better this time around. You can recycle found items to make special toys.
The editors didn't like
Limited cat selection
Easy to lose the 3D effects
Not a whole lot new to see or do for those familiar with the franchise.
Can’t really do much with the cats
Compared to the dogs. Fewer cats varieties to choose from
Compared to dogs. AR in the Obedience contests seems a bit tacked on. Can get repetitive after a while. Also takes a long time to unlock other dog breeds.

Abstract: Nintendogs + Cats is nearly identical to its DS predecessor, Nintendogs. Other than the inclusion of felines, the gameplay is almost exactly the same, and if you were expecting dogs on rocket ships or some other huge game-changing feature, you'll be di...

Abstract: When the Nintendo DS game nintendogs was first released, it became an easy target for some gamers. The dog ownership simulation title was easy to make fun of, with some saying that it wasn't really much of a game at all. Eyebrows raised when popular ...
If your kids missed the first Nintendogs (and that was over five years ago, so there are likely many new gamers who did), then Nintendogs + Cats is a suitably adorable little pet sim to have for the game's launch, that they're likely to love. There's s...
