The editors liked

  • Slow-motion shooting just as enthralling as the original Superhot demo
  • Gets in and gets out before the gimmick gets too stale
  • Mesmerizing
  • Addictive action
  • Unique mechanics
  • Creative presentation
  • Perhaps one of the coolest gameplay mechanics for a first person shooter that I've experienced in a long time combined with one of the most surprisingly awesome storymode campaigns I've had the pleasure of completing in at least as long.
  • Superhot has a brilliant visual aesthetic which combines perfectly with the core gameplay feature
  • Which is used to brilliant effect both in game and after
  • When creating some of the best footage you're likely to find from a game
  • Excellent gameplay twist
  • Deviously dark narrative
  • Packed with curious oddities
  • Fantastic concept and execution
  • Neat little story
  • Original and refreshing
  • Unique
  • Exciting
  • Stylish
  • Top-notch style and presentation
  • Excellent use of a unique time mechanic

The editors didn't like

  • Hitboxing can feel off at times
  • Needs a bit more to flesh out its two hour run
  • Very short campaign
  • Simple
  • Unimpressive visuals
  • It is very addicting. I could complain that the story mode is too short
  • But really it is just as long as it needed to be
  • I'm just greedy for more
  • The story behind Superhot is interesting
  • Though at times it takes away by forcing you into events that actively stall the game
  • Detracting from the experience as a whole
  • Too many levels rely on rote behavior
  • Light on content
  • Limited action types
  • A bit short
  • Campaign is brief
  • Lack of other modes or levels
  • Issues of precision can ruin runs

  • there wasn't much to dislike other than the overuse of the name being repeated, but maybe it's just me. I had zero performance issues running Superhot on my Windows 10/i7 920 @2.67GHz/8GB of ram/Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 rig. The graphics aren't demanding...

  • Abstract:  Some games only need a single good idea to work. For example: Superhot, a punishing first-person shooter in which time only moves when you move. It's a single, good idea. And it works. Each of Superhot's twenty-odd levels recreates an archetypal action-m...

  • Superhot relies heavily on its gameplay, which just happens to be the only part of the experience that is engaging. The rest is a bit uninspired, but if you don't need impressive visuals or a deep narrative, Superhot earns a recommendation...

  • Abstract:  Believe it or not, shooters aren't really about shooting people. Oh sure, plenty of shooting happens throughout the course of a standard shooter, but, much to the dismay and chagrin of angry parents everywhere, games aren't designed to be murder simulator...

  • Abstract:  If I followed the game's instructions, I'd tell you simply that this was one the most innovative shooters I've ever played. I won't be telling you why I'm supposed to say that, or even how the game goes about telling me to say that, but I feel compelled t...

  • Is there enough here? I think so. Superhot is a gimmick game, and it was always going to be a gimmick game. I never expected otherwise. But as far as one-trick ponies go this one is pretty stellar, doing its damnedest to make you feel like the consumm...

  • Abstract:  Blurring the lines between cautious strategy and unbridled mayhem, Superhot is the FPS in which time moves only when you move. No regenerating health bars. No conveniently placed ammo drops. It's just you, outnumbered and outgunned, grabbing the weapons o...
