The editors liked

  • Longer game
  • Better graphics
  • More puzzling puzzles
  • Better and more characters
  • Excellent writing and voiceovers
  • Challenging
  • Varied puzzles
  • Quite possibly the best co-op mode of 2011.
  • Immensely clever writing
  • Portal mechanics combine with new elements for delightful puzzles
  • Cooperative campaign creates intriguing situations
  • New characters are hugely entertaining
  • Smooth Steam connectivity lets you team up with PC players.
  • Awesome single player mode with challenging puzzles
  • A fantastic script
  • Optional commentary and lots of hidden secrets. Equally awesome multiplayer mode that can be enjoyed off or online. Valve is promising free DLC in the future. PS3 copy comes with a free Windows/Mac copy of the game. Clear and crisp visuals. Great use of sound effects and the ending songs are awesome.

The editors didn't like

  • Some things changed without reason from original
  • Feels too ‘game like' compared to the original
  • Loading screens are a bit too frequent
  • No Half-Life Easter eggs this time.
  • Frequent load times
  • No challenge maps or leaderboards to inspire competitive play.
  • Split-screen multiplayer can be a bit cramped. A microphone is practically required for some of the puzzles in the multiplayer mode. You can easily clear the single player mode in two days
  • Probably even in under 8 hours.
