The editors liked

  • Must have game
  • Excellent detail and graphics are impressive
  • Game play is awesome
  • As God of War as PSP can get
  • Minigames and series' lore strengthen the experience
  • Interpolates various gameplay types very well.
  • A stunning audio and visual presentation
  • Impressive boss battles
  • New weapons and powers
  • And an engaging story make this one of Kratos' most epic outings
  • Even on the modestly powered PSP.
  • Incredible visuals
  • Both technically and artistically
  • Violent combat with responsive controls
  • Puzzles are a great change of pace
  • Thoughtful story with a couple of touching moments.
  • An epic masterpiece that fits in the palm of your hand.

The editors didn't like

  • Not much replay potential
  • Once all the videos and few challenges are opened up there is not much more to do except try it on different difficulties
  • Not appropriate for younger players
  • Lacks the epic "pow!" of the console versions
  • Some puzzles are a little frustrating.
  • Largely sticks to the standard GoW formula
  • Puzzling can get tedious.
  • Does little to differentiate itself from other God of War games
  • Design issues affect both the visuals and combat.
  • Would have liked some more difficult puzzles.

  • Excellent production values, trademark over-the-top action, memorable last boss battle.
  • Loses steam after a couple of hours, mechanics start to feel dull, boss fights and puzzles are few and far between.

  • Abstract:  God of War has earned itself something of a reputation; it seems that if you've got a PlayStation console of some sort and are an action fan, you're a bit bonkers if you don't own at least one of these games. Games don't tend to earn that sort of reput...

  • Looks absolutely incredible for a PSP game, Arms of Sparta are fun to use, if not always effective, Packs GoW's signature, satisfyingly vicious combat
  • Some fights go on for way too long, Balance beams are a bigger pain than ever, Few real surprises

  • There’s no denying the bombastic thrills that come with ripping another gorgon’s head off, but we’ve done it so many times now that we wish we could just do something else. We do recommend Ghost Of Sparta as it is satisfying and fun, but we don’t think...

  • Brilliant production values, Thoroughly entertaining gameplay, Excellent addition to the God of War lore
  • Minor camera issues, Game drags on a bit towards the end
  • Harry Potter isn’t the only one with some mad magic skills as Kratos can reign down some serious pain on his enemies using various forms of magic, all obtained after the gruesome demise of a boss. Even though this game is a bit stringy on the boss figh...
