The editors liked

  • The TomTom Rider provides text- and voice-guided directions to motorcyclists and comes with an easy-to-install mounting kit. All maps are preloaded on an included SD card
  • And the unit has integrated Bluetooth for hands-free calling.

The editors didn't like

  • The TomTom Riders POI database is outdated and occasionally gave us wrong street names or no street at all for some side streets. Also
  • The included Bluetooth headset has poor sound quality and we wish the screen were slightly bigger.

  • Abstract:  Tomtom, the leaders of in-car Satellite Navigation, have at last released a GPS system for motorbike riders, their Tom Tom Rider. Is it any good? I have to say that it is, but at a price. As standard, the Rider comes with everything you need to get ...

  • Despite some performance glitches, the TomTom Rider is a solid navigation system for motorcyclists, with good Bluetooth integration, but we recommend swapping out the included Bluetooth headset for a higher-quality one.

  • Abstract:  This week weve unleashed the Stig to test the TomTom Rider, SatNav just for motorbikes. Will he like it, or perhaps even form a loving bond as only the I.T. Stig can with technical equipment.

  • Fast, accurate route planning, Tough, durable construction, Motorbike specific UI & features
  • No HD Traffic support, No external speakers, No spoken directions when paired with a smartphone, Expensive for the feature set
  • The TomTom Rider v4 is a capable bike sat nav, but it has a number of faults. The company's traditional strengths are all here to be admired: excellent build quality, good route mapping and a regularly updated map full of POIs. But the trouble is less wha...
