  • The Econav comes with a major standout feature: it tells you the optimum time to change gear in order to boost your car’s fuel efficiency, reduce CO2 emissions and generally save money/the planet. You simply tell it which make and model of car you’re driving and it does the rest. In addition, the satnav system itself is decent, if a tad basic in comparison to some other models on the market: maps
  • While the gear change instructions might seem like a good, fluffy and thrifty idea, they are also more than a little irritating – like being barked at by a particularly persistent backseat driver. The prompts also tend to come at times when you might not naturally want to change gear, and its choices don’t always make you feel like you’re driving more efficiently – it might tell you to drive at 3
  • While the idea behind the Econav is sound, its system simply doesn’t cut the mustard in practice. It’s a reasonably capable sat-nav, but there are bags of superior models out there.Best offers for the Vexia 480 EconavAmazon UK £203.72 Vexia 480 Econav ...

  • Great aesthetic design; Easy to mount; Gets you from A to B
  • Annoying in so many ways; Conservative gear recommendations; Basic navigation features

  • It is impossible to say how well the Econav performs over time on the basis of a test period of just a few days. It can, presumably, only improve driving efficiency if you implement its advice and this needs to happen over a period of months. However ...

  • Solid on-road GPS navigation, nicely customisable, slim and lightweight design
  • Headline "eco" features a little simplistic, can be a distraction on the road, few additional features
  • Provided you’re not expecting any revolutionary new ways to drive more efficiently, the econav is a solid and effective GPS that’s still capable of helping you improve economy on the roadKey specsGPS...
