TestSeek's Expert Reviews Summary
Staff at TestSeek has read all the expert reviews (so you don't have to) for this product and written a summary of what the editors think about the product.
The Samsung HT-X810 is a 2.1 wall-mountable home theatre system with a 5.8 GHz wireless subwoofer. Among its primary features are; 1080p DVD upscaling (slot-in DVD-player included), good connectivity including Bluetooth, USB, HDMI, component and optical video.
The system generally produced excellent audio and video quality in the tests, though it sometimes clattered at extreme volumes. This system is not a surround sound system although it has a virtual surround sound mode, which wasn’t much appreciated in the reviews.
The reviewers have different opinions regarding the included slot-in DVD/CD-player. Some say it works good when upscaling DVD-video to 1080p, others wasn’t very impressed by this function. Otherwise there were no complaints regarding the DVD/CD player.
The system was easy to setup but the editors complained about the remote control having too small buttons and the menu navigation being complicated to navigate. Other operation problems noted was the long time it took for the system to switch between audio sources (up to five seconds).
The editors liked
Stylish and easy to setup
Satisfying audio and video quality
Wall mountable
Good connectivity
Built-in upscaling DVD/CD-player
The editors didn't like
Clatters at extreme volumes
Puzzling audio settings
Slow and dull input switching
TestSeek's Conclusion
Although Samsung HT-X810 can’t be labeled cheap at a price tag of $700, most reviewers are very positive. They liked the design, connectivity and the sound produced by the HT-X810 system. On the negative side, the editors weren’t as impressed by the built-in DVD-player and the long time it took to switch between audio sources.
Straight forward setup, Nonintrusive slotloading upscaling DVD player, Wireless Subwoofer and Bluetooth capability reduces cable clutter, Good sound quality from both main sound bar unit and subwoofer, Wall mount bracket included.
2.1 channel Virtual Surround processing not as effective as 5.1 channel surround sound, DVD upscaling quality just average, Remote control has small buttons and is not backlit, No video inputs , No XM/Sirius connection options.
The Samsung HT-X810 offers an attractive, compact, self-contained, easy-to-use system that can complement a flat panel television and create an intimate, but satisfying, home theater viewing and listening experience. The system consists of a main unit ...

Soundbar surround system with built-in DVD player and wireless powered subwoofer; eliminates the need for an AV receiver; HDMI output; easy setup; streams Bluetooth audio from compatible A2DP sources; good digital media support.
Virtual surround sound delivers minimal impact; very limited connectivity for additional external devices; the DVD players nice, but a Blu-ray player would have been even better; uneven HDMI video quality.

The X810 isnt cheap at around $700, but given its extensive features and excellent sound quality, we have no qualms about recommending it wholeheartedly for owners of 40-inch or larger HDTVs from any manufacturer. That said, wed like to see future it...

Compact wall mountable sound solution; Good punchy sound; Wireless subwoofer makes for good flexibility; Wide range of input sources
Surround sound effect only adequate; Video performance from DVD could be problematic
I was a little concerned about the video performance from this unit, but the sound was quite good in view of its size and cost. The wireless subwoofer in particular was very useful, allowing an escape from the long cables that subwoofers otherwise inva...

Overwhelming amounts of bass, Speaker rattles at mid to high volumes, Bluetooth doesnt work that well
