The unit is easy to operate, well supported, has all required connections, teletext (captions), Dolby digital and widescreen mode.
The unit does not automatically switch between widescreen and standard definition mode, tuning can be unreliable in certain areas, no support for optical surround sound or high definition broadcasts.
Overall the unit represents good value for money if you dont require high definition or fancy features such as dual tuners or picture-in-picture. As an entry-level unit, the STB-X5 may not be the cheapest, but it is well-supported and good quality.
