The editors liked

  • The 2017 Nissan Rogue Hybrid builds on the standard model with improved fuel efficiency without adding much to the price tag. Handling around town feels planted
  • But absorbs bumps well. Standard and available driver aid features are above average for this
  • Solid value
  • Lots of features
  • Smooth ride and handling
  • Good local search features
  • Very affordable
  • Capable of high mpg with careful driving
  • Battery doesn't eat too much into trunk space

The editors didn't like

  • The stated 33 combined mpg isn't much more than the standard model and we didn't even reach that during testing. Navigation and infotainment system boasts very limited smartphone integration
  • Lacking Android Auto or Apple CarPlay
  • Lackluster performance
  • Intermittent connectivity issues
  • Less cargo room than the gasoline version
  • Lacks low-speed urgency
  • Only one USB port
  • Tiny electric-only range

  • The standard Nissan Rogue was already pretty good and the 2017 Rogue Hybrid only makes a small eco improvement, but the Hybrid's also not much more expensive, making it an easily justified upgrade...
