The editors didn't like

  • Lack of Bass (this can be fixed using your audio panel if you have a decent soundcard)
  • If you wear glasses it may cause awkward pressure behind your ears
  • Not true 5.1 surround sound (thats just me being picky)
  • Not Surround
  • Price For Some
  • Microphone level switch causes momentary loud interference.
  • Microphone retracting can be bothersome
  • Less than stellar USB soundcard performance
  • A little pricey
  • No carrying case
  • None really
  • Virtual 7.1 offered some benefit
  • Could not pinpoint other players like four point speakers can
  • Little pricy
  • With all this in mind
  • I am awarding the Steel Series 5H headphones an 8 out of 10. I know that these headphones will be on my personal gaming PC for a long time to come.
  • Price is kind of high for the casual user (approx $99 at the time of this writing)....
  • General audio performance
  • A little lacking on the lower frequencies (preference)
  • Needs a tad more volume.
  • None

  • Comfort, Retractable microphone, USB Virtual 7.1 Sound, The ability to be disassembled for transporting to and from LAN events, SteelSeries branding.
  • Price premium for USB.
  • Overall, the SteelSeries 5H-V2 USB Gaming Headset is a excellent bit of kit, but it does have it's drawbacks, most notably, the hefty price tag of £70. The 7.1 USB system works well enough, but is reliant on the software made available from C-Me...

  • The 5H v2 has several improvements on the previous version. The SteelSound 5H v2 focuses far too much on getting one up on the opposition in first person shooters, as opposed to being an all-round performer. If you’re looking for a headset which wil...
