The editors didn't like

  • Substandard Hardware Pack (composite cables for a 3D HD player?!)
  • Expensive
  • No glasses included (though you can get 2 pairs with purchase of TV and player)
  • One of the audibly noisier players I've tried
  • The quality of traditional 2D content could be better
  • It doesn’t playback MP3 files.
  • The BDC6900 uses HDMI 1.3
  • Not 1.4. HDMI 1.3 will support 3D playback
  • But it only supports transmission of a 1080i signal for each eye. HDMI v1.4 can support 1080p for each eye. [UPDATE 4/29/10
  • This is incorrect. A Samsung product manager confirms that the BDC6900 does have an HDMI 1.4 output.]
  • This player lacks an advanced control port like RS232.
  • 3D price premium is high
  • Buttons on top of the player are inconvenient
  • Last year's Samsung Blu-ray players had reliability issues

  • After an evening of 3D Blu-Ray viewing compliments of Samsung's BD-C6900, I can see how integrating 3D Blu-Ray into any consumer's home theater system could be considered a good thing. But the real thing to point out with the BD-C6900, is 3D is not w...

  • With the smashing success of Avatar, Hollywood is convinced 3D will drive people to the theaters in droves. And with the boxoffice returns for Alice in Wonderland, How to Train Your Dragon, and Clash of the Titans, they are onto something. Will this suc...

  • The Samsung BD-C6900 Blu-ray disc player is full of useful features. We'd be inclined to use the video-on-demand features and internet access more than 3D Blu-ray playback at the moment, but 3D playback will make it attractive to anyone who is thinkin...

  • Abstract:  With a height of less than two inches, Samsung’s svelte BD-C6900 is a well-featured Blu-ray player, and is the company’s first to provide 3D Blu-ray disc playback. Among other features (of which there are many), the player provides relatively quick ...
