It won't please everyone
But the hole-punch is an upgrade on the dreaded notch. The rest of the phone looks and feels pretty good too. The black model has only a subtle V chevron on the back making it the least ostentatious and my favorite

The editors didn't like
The LCD panel is inferior to displays in competing devices
Especially OLED ones. Uneven backlighting causes bleed around the edges that becomes increasingly noticeable
Won't be an issue for long-time Huawei/Honor owners
But Magic UI (essentially EMUI)
No waterproofing
Storage can't be expanded further
The secondary camera on the back isn't as versatile as phones with a telephoto or wide-angle shooters

Competitors for Honor View 20

Honor View 20 vs Vi
Poor software experience
No third-part launcher support
Not available in North America
Magic UI still isn't great
No wireless charging
No in-screen fingerprint reader
AR still a little gimmicky
No OIS on front-facing camera
Magic UI is just okay
48MP camera samples don't deliver greater superiority over 12MP samples
Coldlooking display
Heavy noise with shooting video under low light
Not officially available in the US
Huawei's software is still a burden
Lacks wireless charging
Camera is mediocre for most common uses
LCD lacks the beauty and contrast of an OLED panel

Amazing battery life, good use of the punch hole display
No wide or zoomed rear lenses, not waterproof, Rating:
Overall, we are very impressed with what Honor has managed to engineer here with its latest flagship. With a £499 starting price, we couldn't ask for more; well, apart from perhaps the addition of some IP certification...

holepunch notch, snappy performance, good battery life, brilliant camera, good screen, dualsim, headphone socket
Magic UI not to everyone's taste, no expandable storage, no water resistance, no wireless charging
The Honor View 20 is genuinely brilliant phone that gives the very best in the market a run for their money. But then you realise that it costs half as much as an iPhone XS and is a full £400 cheaper than Huawei's Mate 20 Pro.At £500 the Honor View 20 is...

Strong camera, Great battery life, Good price, It has a headphone jack
No wireless charging, No water resistance certification
The Honor View 20 is the best alternative to the OnePlus 6T you'll find. Is it actually better? Well, the camera is. So is battery life. And it's certainly more eye-catching. Oh, and it has a headphone jack too. For many, this is the Android to buy on a...

Nextgen holepunch display looks smart and works a treat, outstanding battery life, slick performance
Soso video playback, camera's Photoshop effect for portrait photos
If Honor's View 20 has set the bar for smartphones in 2019, then it's done so at bronze medal standard. There'll be better handsets to see release this year, but not many. Especially at the £500 mark.Read nextWIRED Recommends: The best gadgets and gear in...

Strange performance quirks, Software still needs work, No wireless charging or IP rating

For the money, you can't get a faster and more powerful phone than the Honor View 20 right now. And, for my money, that makes it a winner.Overall, then, the raw power offered by the Honor View 20, which as I've shown is in advance of many flagships from m...
